Nothing much went on today. I am almost finished with this pair of socks. Since I was using yarn that didn't come with a written pattern, and that I had never used before, I had no idea of how much sock each ball would make. (And gauge swatches don't really work for socks, since they involve ribbing and heels and all that...) So I cast on with a different yarn, and then joined in the sock yarn after a couple of rows, did only a few rows of cuff, then started in on the heel and foot. Now that both socks are finished that far, I have the yarn that's left; I divide it in half, and will use each half to extend the cuffs UPWARD. This involves using DP needles to pick up that first row of the sock yarn, then cutting off the temporary cast-on, then starting in on the ribbing again, using the circular needle so that after one round it's all on the circular again and easier to work with, rather than on the DPs. So I'm about an inch further up on the first sock, and it looks like this method is working; the switch to working upward is visible if one looks really, really closely, but won't be noticed in the wearing except by the pickiest of other knitters. Pictures will follow, soonly.
Hmmm. Time for decaf tea, then bed, so that tomorrow morning we can get rolling down toward VA by 11-ish, and eat lunch there, building in slack time toward finding the actual concert location before 2:00.
