Cindy's socks - finished the second one. Click on the small piccies for larger views.

The single one is the first sock; in the pair, the second sock is on top. The toe came out a little smoother in the second one, though I'm still needing a lot of toe practice.

Random afghan crocheted - used up some stuff from my stash, but then it came out a little bit small, and of course the yarn I had used was mainly clearance/close-outs, so no more was available. But I found some Lion fun fur on sale ($2!) that was a closer match to the blue color than anything else, including anything made by Moda Dea, which was what most of the sapphire and chartreuse yarn in there is, so that accounts for the fuzzy 4" borders at top and bottom. Looks a little odd, but that extra 8" makes the overall proportions much nicer. I think the victim of this afghan will be a niece to whom I owe a gift for her college graduation last year. Blue's her favorite color. This may well change that :D

I read a kids' book I spotted in the library, The Wild Side of Pet Guinea Pigs. It's a pretty good book - couple of pieces of incorrect info, but nothing harmfully wrong. The book includes lots of technical terminology, and includes the stuff many books avoid, such as the necessary feces-eating, and guinea pigs' place in the wild food chain; there's an excellent glossary in the back. The best part, though, is the photos - lots of domesticated GPs, but also lots of the various wild cavy relatives, from Patagonian cavies to capybaras. All around, pretty interesting, more so than most books aimed at younger pet owners. It's part of a series that also includes the "wild side" of pet lizards, ferrets, cats, dogs, and fish.

Hmm. We don't have much in the way of spare blankets right now, so if you wanted to bring enough bedding to be comfortable, that might be wise. That's all that occurs to me! Are you up for a St. Patrick's Day party that evening? A friend in the area who I haven't had a chance yet to meet in person invited us to one, along with any Cool People we cared to bring, who you definitely qualify under.

What email address should I send address info to? Does the AOL one still work?

aol still works, but better yet, try [me] at [myscreenname] dot net

We could stand small doses of St. Patrick's day party, I suspect! As long as drinking beer is not the only object of the party...

I am told there will also be silly hats, and people with guitars! So not beer-drinking alone, no.
