Really. The snow is almost entirely gone, except in really shady spots and parking lot corners where it was plowed into 4-foot high lumps. For the past two days, we've had weather in the 60's (about 15°C, for my numerous European fans :D); today, people were driving around with their car windows open. Just ridiculous.

I've got to go hit up the library, or else unpack all the rest of the books, because I can't find anything I want to read in this house! (Or maybe one of you just won the lottery, and will go over to my Amazon.com wish list and send everything on it to me by overnight-mail. Yeah.)

So far this week: took 7 pet afghans over to an animal shelter in Howard County (see http://www.h4ha.org/snuggles). Sent scarf, completed nearly 2 weeks ago, off to [livejournal.com profile] landley today. Watched electrical work get completed in kitchen and bathroom. That last is pretty neat - we had them put in a ceiling fan/4-bulb fixture in the dining room, which will help cool off the kitchen and living room as well, because of the way the house is laid out; that replaces the old one-bulb, flush-mount light fixture in the dining room. (One bulb at ceiling height is NOT enough to read by.) And a similar one-bulb fixture in the kitchen was replaced by a 2-bulb track fixture, so not only is there twice as much light, but also it hangs somewhat lower and is partially movable - can swing one of the lights over closer to the stove instead of the center of the room. Plus they put in under-cabinet fixtures right over the sink and the stove. And in the bathroom, the horrid late-50's combo medicine cabinet/single outlet/upward-facing light fixture was replaced with: a 4-bulb bar fixture higher on the wall, a separate medicine cabinet, and two double outlets, one of them a GFCI. So now we can have the little space heater and the hair dryer plugged in at the same time. The medicine cabinet has more space. We'll put up the matching towel cabinet ourselves sometime real soon. Oh, and the outlet right next to the sink in the kitchen was replaced with a GFCI outlet as well. Also a couple of fixtures and switches replaced downstairs. There's still more that we'd like done, but this stuff covers the most urgent, the stuff that makes the kitchen, bathroom, and stairs more functional and safer.

Wasn't that fascinating? They left a mess, and I need to vacuum up drywall dust and stuff.
