Um. What's a Jayne hat? He has a hat? (I like Firefly, but I'm ignorant of the fan culture.)

In one of the episodes, Jayne's mother sends him a hat she made, which he wears all through the episode, and no one dares laugh at him, because he is, after all, Jayne. It is a really stupid hat in yellow and orange with long flappy ear flaps and a huge pom-pom on top.
