Another offer shot down the drain. We offered $10K more than the asking price on that house, but someone else offered even more than that. Back to househunting.

It occurs to me that since I'm reading so much, sitting around here, I should probably keep track. So:
last week I read Kage Baker's Mother Aegypt and other Stories and finished John McWhorter's The Power of Babel (Chas, I'm getting you a copy of that for your birthday, if I can find a used one in good condition or it comes out in paperback...) and I forget what-all else I read. Yesterday I finished up The Best of the Best which is selections from 20 years' worth of the Year's Best Science Fiction collections. Today I should finish up Sex, Lies and Vampires (a fantasy romance farce) by Katie MacAlister, and start in on Richard Dawkins' The Ancestor's Tale. And a handful of magazines.

And tomorrow we'll look at more houses. Bleah.

Sorry this house has fallen through too. Maybe the perfect one will come through this time around. At least you're not moving at the same time. I'm coming to truly detest moving.
I must remember to take pictures of my storage unit to share with folks. I spent 2 hours last night rearranging it to be able to fit in another desk and a bunch more stuff. It's a true work of art!

I'll take a couple pictures next time I'm at our storage unit, and you take a couple pics of yours, and we'll set up a web site: People who keep stuff, and the stuff they keep.

That's a great idea! Too bad my digital camera is presently in the bowels of said unit (I think in a desk drawer, but it could be a dresser drawer...or on the little bookshelf...I think) but I remembered to keep out my regular camera since I want to finish off this roll to get to the one picture of me in my latest costume that I got on it.
I ended up having to beg a friend to keep my computer, printer, tv, big bookshelf, and a basket of assorted stuff (including my Kikyo wig) for me, and my good desk chair is on loan to the lab for 2 weeks because I couldn't fit it in the unit even if I took it apart like the other one. I have the thing stacked to the ceiling in almost every spot. If I had a clue where my riding helmet was (probably in the back of the unit) I'd wear it while we load everything into the moving truck.
