Made formal offer on house in Gwynn Oak today. Should hear back by tomorrow whether it's accepted.

Hotter'n hell here today - but then we had a thunderstorm and things are cooling off nicely. The thunderstorm happened while S and I were driving over to Montgomery Village, which, come to think of it, has happened every time we've driven to Montgomery Village in the evening. There was no band rehearsal, but the band officers/whatevers asked for crew to help remove old music from folders and sort out each piece and then put each piece in score order. So we went to help, having some experience with this sort of thing. The AC was off in the community center, but one of the women went and got some fans and then it was OK. We were finished in less than 2 hours. Fewer folders than the Austin Symphonic Band. Although some of the pieces had a surprising number of parts - apparently some people in the group are quite optimistic, because there were 7 copies of the solo cornet part to several of the marches; the band doesn't even have 7 cornet players, let alone 7 solo quality cornet players. And a couple of the pieces had bass sax parts, contrabass clarinet parts, one even had an E-flat contrabass clarinet part. The chances of the average band having any of those instruments is slim to none - even most well-funded college bands are unlikely to have all three instruments.

We finally got hold of a phone book - since we don't have a land line, we hadn't gotten one. So now we can actually look things up! Not everything is on the web yet - a simple question like "is there a late-night diner open near us besides the Double T?" is not as easy to find on the web as you'd think, but quite easy in a phone book.

Fingers crossed on house. XXXXXX

Good luck on house, I'm keeping my fingers crossed too. And I hope this cool front that we got last night comes your way. Temps down about ten degrees from yesterday. We're supposed to have lows in the upper 60's this weekend, YUM.
