car here band rehearsal freecycle whee

The car got here Wednesday afternoon.
We went to rehearsal with the Montgomery Village Community Band Wednesday night. That was fun. It's a lovely drive, about 30 miles away if we take country roads. One strange thing - I seem to be a better player than their two other tenor saxes. A very strange sensation for me.
The cable guy came today, so we actually have internet access here in the apartment instead of having to walk over to the complex offices to use their computers.
And we gave away a couple things on freecycle, freeing up some space here. I am not sure where landley and fadethecat found some of the kitchen stuff they packed for us - stuff I don't remember ever owning. But we started unpacking "kitchen" and there it was. So the butcher block that felt like it weighed a hundred pounds out of those 22,000 that Allied charged us for, that made it here nicely in the bottom of a box, now belongs to someone else. And that glass cake tray that also weighs a ton. If we had packed sooner, we would have discovered these things and given them away in Austin instead of paying to move them 1600 miles.

Other than that, not much progress today - we're taking it easy. Tomorrow we drive down to NC for my niece's wedding, and drive back on Saturday afternoon. Can't stay there longer, can only leave the pets for one night.

So there's 2 days with a 5 hour drive each, and no unpacking accomplished. If the hotel has free wireless, I will post after the wedding.

Nope, never did really get into Southern Living, even though it has nice covers. I suppose I should buy this issue, though!

My landlord just offered to give me several chunks of polished marble (or is it granite?) that he's left sitting in our back yard. Like I'm going to cart that to California to sit in storage and never be used. It's beautiful, though.
