Hey, we are even making more progress! We installed cup hooks under the cabinets today, so we could hang up the tea mugs; got all those white boxy things that support our bed straightened up and arranged, so now the foam pad and a comforter look like we have a cheap futon on a platform, instead of a cheap foam pad on the floor. We have the microwave set up so we can nuke tea. I installed an air filter in the animal room. Little things, but progress is being made! The living room is still terra boxae incognita, but there are visible patches of floor in the dining room; much of the kitchen is usable, we can get at the dresser drawers... now I am going back to the apt and going to install the towel rings in the bathroom; Steve is putting together the over-the-toilet storage thingy we bought this afternoon. So we should have all the towels off the bathroom floor by tomorrow!

Pickle Underfoot is already making himself quite at home. He has found some odd spots to jump up on and fall asleep.

There is a county park across the street from us. A smallish supermarket is 3 blocks away. A CVS drugstore is 3 blocks away. A small strip center with a milk-eggs-beer store, a take-out pizza and subs place, an odd little Chinese restaurant, a dry-cleaner and a couple other tiny stores, is one block away.

This apartment complex is enormous. There are 18 buildings. Each building contains 56 units, divided up into 6 "street addresses." For example, ours, 6849 Old Waterloo Rd, is actually one of the 6 addresses in building 14. There are 12 apartments at 6849, 12 more next to us at 6847 (still part of building 14), 2 identical corridors on the other side of the building, then a wing at each end with 8 apartments in each. So that's, um, 1008 apartments. Larger than Johnson City, Texas. There are lots of trees, a pool, tennis courts, a club house, this business center with the computers, and some other stuff. We have a small concrete patio in front of our living room, and lots of people have patio furniture out, even on the first floor, so it looks like it would be safe to put the glider out there once we unearth it. (It's under the boxes in the living room...)

We can pretty reliably find Target and Home Depot by now. We've found decent pizza, cheap fried shrimp, and the post office. A Bennigan's that's open till 1 AM is not too far away; not my first choice of eating but the late hours make it convenient.

The car should be here tomorrow morning, and then we can return the rental car. And put more stuff in storage. And maybe retrieve stuff from storage. And get our renter's insurance. And find out where the DMV is, so we can start working on drivers' licenses and license plates. And I still have to find a dentist, since I still have this temporary crown... Whew. I'm making me tired just thinking about it!
