Some stuff accomplished:
First day of class was today. I only had one class, this morning at 9:30. (Ugh, but at least it's not 8:00.) Managed to get through that without scaring any of the freshmen to death. And I have a couple repeat students, people who dropped the course in a previous semester due to overloads but still wanted to have me as their professor. That's always a compliment. The usual first-day stuff - skim through the syllabus, warn everybody about my exam policy, tell people to LABEL THEIR DISKETTES AND JUMP DRIVES so the when, not if, they leave one somewhere, there's a decent chance it will be returned to them.

Gave one of the guinea pig cages a really thorough clean out.

Stripped the paint off of three drawers in the kitchen. Later in the week I'll find a moment to buy some paint, and start the repainting of those. White, I guess, maybe a very pale cream? Can't decide. Gotta be something extremely neutral, though.

More crocheted blocks for the Warm-Up America afghan project at St. Ed's. I'm gonna wear out my thumbs at this rate.

Band rehearsals are always fun; that's what I've been doing with my Tuesday nights for over 23 years now. We have a huge section right now - 7 alto saxes, 3 tenors (one of whom plays soprano as necessary) and a bari. We can make a LOT of noise. Our next concert is February 19; the theme is "cars, trains, boats, planes" so all the titles are sort of transportation related. Two Eric Whitacre pieces; those of you familiar with band music can just imagine...

Spouse has just received a bunch of CDs in the mail; I guess we'll be listening to soundtracks for a while.

Liz! I have a whole nother bag of stuff for your co-worker; call me and leave a message as to when you might be able to come by, and I'll leave it out on the porch!

Tomorrow is two classes and office hours. Thursday is only one class again, but then there's the afghan group, a lunch with St Ed's president for the science faculty, and then later in the afternoon a guy is coming to the house to check and see if there really is a raccoon living under the foundation, or is it just possums; either way, we need to get them out of there. The tree guy is supposed to call me back next Monday to let me know which day next week they can trim all the branches well away from the house, so that the attic does not get re-squirreled immediately. I still haven't picked up a few rolls of hardware cloth, because I know that's a chore I'm unlikely to want to do myself... but it needs to be done, darn it. So one way or another I need to make it happen.

Well, off to crochet a couple more blocks, read 3-4 magazines, finish a short story I'm reading, get all my stuff into my carrier bag for tomorrow, sweep up the animal room floor (since Fred and Ethel, the Puffalumps, whose pic you see in my icon, have had the day out of cage), and still get to bed before midnight, HA!!!
