Whew. Finished grading finals in the nick of time - deadline for grade submission was 11:59 PM Tues, and I got mine in at 11:53. Now that that's over with, I'll get back to posting. Tomorrow. Tonight, I want to read a bit, have a cat sit on my lap, and get away from this computer. I am really, really tired of bad web pages at the moment.

If they are bad web pages, can't you just fail them?

Then I'd have to see them again next semester. I have to make every effort to find something good in them, so I can pass them and get rid of them!!

...kinda makes me glad I'm not one of your students...

You don't like people finding what you've done to be good and giving you a passing grade for it?

My students would have to follow the W3C standards, its all on the web so there would be no need for a text book. However, SEU requires a text book so I would have them get a book about W3C. I would make it like 75% of their web page grade.

There are reasons for having a textbook - a way to assign homework, a convenient set of notes... I do a lot with accessability, too. But the thing is, these people are not people who have ever even heard of W3C. Part of the point of the course is to even GET them to that point. They also need drilling in stuff like, remembering spaces between attributes. And no spaces next to their + signs when concatenating. And someone to carefully spell and explain "concatenate" to them. And deprecate. And heuristic. And algorithm. These are not people who can just read a set of standards and understand how to apply them. You're too much an accomplished geek already to understand the mindset of a terrified Theatre Arts or Kinesiology major :D
