What's on your floor?
Books. Laundry. Shoes. Vacuum cleaner. Bags of yarn. Small antique table loom. Magazines I've finished, waiting to be staged to recycle bin. Framed certificates that never actually got put up on wall. Wastebaskets. Pole lamp. Suitcases from our recent travels. Carpet that badly needs vacuuming. Folding stand for baritone saxophone. Wall-mount pants hanger we've never wall-mounted.

What's on your walls?
Most wallage is covered with bookcases and other storage-y things; one small section of blank wall has [livejournal.com profile] squirrel_magnet's certificates, diploma, etc. that used to be on his office wall before he retired, including a needlepoint picture of dolphins that I made for him. Wall immediately above my dresser has a shelf with pegs, that has mostly jewelry stored on it and hanging from it.

What's under your bed?
Bed is supported by homemade storage - those white particle-board rectangles one gets from Target, meant to be stacked, instead there are 10 of them supporting the bed; 4 are "inner" support so the don't have anything shoved in them. The spaces on my side are filled with shoes and boots and a few books; the spaces on Squirrel's side are filled with software boxes, software manuals, and old magazines.

What's in your sock drawer?
Slightly too many socks - I have to sort of push and shove to shut the drawer.

What's on your bookcase?
Two large bookcases contain mostly books - all sorts, including Random House Unabridged Dictionary, paperback SF I haven't read yet, and everything in between - these books are in no order. In front of the books are all sorts of miscellaneous - yarn, bungie cords, paperweights, cat toys, old address books, non-working calculators, stuff that used to be on S's desk at work...

Plastic bookshelf has old t-shirts being saved for a quilt someday, knitting projects, off-season socks and shirts, a couple of boxes that we've not unpacked yet in this house, and my old autoharp.

The "pier" ends of our headboard ensemble are nightstands with shelves above them - mine contains on the upper shelves folded sweaters, more jewelry, dried-up bottles of nail polish, spare buttons, and I know not what in back of that stuff - that's what's at the front.

What's in your closet?
Left to right: two suits I haven't worn since we moved here, several dresses that don't fit, bunch of short-sleeved shirts, black jacket for formal wear, couple new dresses for wearing to symphony concerts, white shirts, black skirts, black dresses for playing concerts in various bands, old dress slacks I don't wear any more.
Floor of closet contains boots I never wear, old sneakers I haven't thrown out, and this year's and last year's boxes for paper records - bills, letters, receipts, check registers, etc.

What's on your nightstand?
Books. Magazines. More books. More magazines. My brother's 50-year-old christening outfit which I need to mail to him. Bag of pistachio nuts. Box of nose tissues. Empty plastic bags. Lamp clipped onto edge. More books. More magazines. That's what's *on* the nightstand - what's in the drawers is a much longer list, which includes leftover hospital medical supplies, spare medications, old checkbooks, and a whole lot of stuff I don't remember and am too lazy to get up and look. Perhaps I shall actually throw some of that stuff away soon, since we are moving to a new house and have to pack!

What's on your desk?
No room for a desk in our bedroom.

Furniture it didn't ask about:
Headboard to bed, at bed level: alarm clocks, phone, answering machine, daily medications, jar of skin cream, pen, scissors, cell phone recharger, blood pressure monitor, notebook, nail file, old keychains, small stuffed animals on a small shelf. Headboard, at top (about 5'6" high) - about 20 larger stuffed animals, plus my old dulcimer, plus spare sheet sets.

That's still not counting the rest of the dressers besides my sock drawer, or the rolling storage ottoman, or the shelves above the closet, or the giant armoire spouse uses as a closet.

The wonder is that there's any visible floor space at all.

Sounds a lot like my bedroom. I'm relieved to know I'm not that unusual. :)
I do have a CD/MP3/Radio/Tape player in the headboard. I'd like to add a flat screen TV to a wall, but that will have to wait.

Sounds like my bedroom too except that we don't have a night stand. Our closet is actually my husband's office so it too if filled with books.

well done
