Fly-by book post
Feb. 22nd, 2009 12:51 amTraffic: Why We Drive the Way We Do (And What It Says About Us) - Tom Vanderbilt Probably on my list of best books I've read in 2009, even though it's early in the year. Fascinating, thorough. I've tweeted quotes from it. When I was reading little bits of it to S, he kept saying "but..." and bringing up some point - and I'd say, oh, the author already addressed that point. Pretty much all the stuff about how we do and don't obey traffic laws, how we do and don't get into accidents - when it's counterintuitive, he's got the cites to studies. Oh, and late-merging is a better strategy than early merging. Better for society as well as the individual.
