1:23 a.m. and all is fuzzy
Oct. 9th, 2004 11:22 pmWent to Linucon. Went to faculty party. Went back to Linucon. Just got home.
This afternoon I bought a giant microbe from the Pegasus Publishing people - I got the Flesh-Eating Bacteria; it's awfully cute, but I really want The Common Cold and the Black Death. Shigella is very cute too... I may decide to collect them all. We added our 2 cents worth to the Chaos Machine; I had the button lady make me a couple of custom buttons about knitting.*
Then I went home and made a few pints of ice cream - banana-nectarine-chocolate chip, and pumpkin-pecan. To take to the party. Both were completely eaten but the favorite by far was the banana flavor. I don't like my ice cream too sweet, but even I have to admit that the pumpkin flavor needed a little bit more milk and sugar to balance out the pumpkin and spices. And more pecans, too, what the heck. (I brought my Flesh-Eating Bacteria with me; it was a great hit with the biology faculty; some of them want a few of the microbes and one woman immediately started thinking of more ideas for them!)
Then we went back to the con, added a few more remarks to the Chaos Machine, and attended the audience reading of The Worst Science Fiction Story Ever Written, and some of the Filk session. Very nice people there; just what I need, another hobby, as it turns out that the guy running the filk session and I have several acquaintances in common and I may be interested in the filk email list... just what I need. And we traded lots of stories about marching bands and singing on band trips. A musical teenagerhood is a gift that lasts a lifetime.
* Yes, I'm knitting - the beheadings will begin shortly.
and: It's my latest decorating project: a guillotine cozy.
