www.linucon.org and all that
Oct. 8th, 2004 10:49 pmCurrently in progress. Have been there on and off this evening. Attended panels on cover art, and on copyright - which although attendance was smallish there was enough interest that Bill Allen and Eric Flint wound up answering questions for an hour and a half, past when it was supposed to end!
There is a dearth of the promised ice cream, however.
At 10:30 or so the Chaos Machine in the lobby was lookin' real good. The hotel staff are beginning to get a slightly stunned look already, however.
I have already spent too much in the dealer's room, but at least I have much of my Solstice shopping accomplished, thanks to Pegasus Publishing, plus the nice lady who does the buttons. Everybody needs more buttons. I added 5 more suggestions to her notebook, too, so you may see some of my favorites someday at a con!
Sometime this weekend I have to catch up on grading homework. Tomorrow there are several con sessions I want to attend - but there's also a faculty party for NatSci faculty, at the home of the guy who hired me, tomorrow evening. Conflict, conflict. I will decide at the very last minute, I am sure.
I seem to have purchased more yarn yesterday; Hill Country Weavers was having its First Thursday sale. I think I will freak a few people out by bringing some knitting or crocheting to the con tomorrow. While the occasional SCA/RenFaire attendees - there is an overlap there with the SF/Fantasy crowd - will not be surprised, the average Linux geek probably does not have that many people sitting around knitting in his vicinity on the average day. Since
fadethecat has recently dyed her hair denim blue, perhaps I shall make her a blue scarf.
