Busy weekend ahead
Sep. 4th, 2004 12:19 amOur local Mensa chapter's Regional Gathering is this weekend. Sunday I am giving a knitting workshop at it. So I've got to get 20 pairs of knitting needles ready. I figured out a really cheap way to do it, too: pencils.
Yes, 72 pencils for less than $3.00 at Office Depot. And a sharpener. And clear tape to cover the lead. Voila! 36 pairs of knitting needles, at less than 10 cents a pair.
This evening was mainly just registration and hang-out-at-hospitality. I've got some books to release for BookCrossing - since many Mensans will read anything that sits still, it's fertile ground for sowing books.
Off to collect yarn from my petting collection to display. And knitted samples. And rubber bands to keep the pencils together. And duct tape. One always should have duct tape handy. (A few years ago, I did a kaleidoscope-making workshop; duct tape was very important for that one!)
