that high school meme
Mar. 13th, 2008 01:55 amganked from oh, about half my flist:
1. Did you date someone from your school?
Yes. And we stayed friends afterward.
2. Did you win anything in Seniors' Who's Who?
If my high school even HAD a "Seniors' Who's Who" I don't know about it - in any event, I was never a senior, having dropped out at the end of 11th grade. (I was ranked 8th in the junior class of 396 people at the time I dropped out, though, if that counts for anything)
3. What kind of car did you drive?
There probably weren't more than 2 dozen students who owned cars in my whole high school (1800 or so people), and I sure as hell wasn't one of them.
4. It's Friday night...where are you?
Either at home reading science fiction, or playing in the school orchestra concert.
5. Were you a party animal?
No. I drank - but not at parties.
6. Were you considered a flirt?
No - I have no earthly idea of how to flirt even now. And I don't think anyone would have recognized me if I had tried it back then.
7. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir?
Orchestra - violin, occasionally viola, filled in on the string bass one year in junior high, played saxophone during summer band (6 week voluntary summer school!) as well as singing and taking music theory classes.
8. Were you a nerd?
Most assuredly. I was a nerd before there were nerds. I believe I already fit the nerd profile by 4th grade.
9. Did you get suspended/expelled?
Nope - dropped out, though.
10. Can you sing the fight song?
If we had a fight song, I never knew about it.
11. Who were your favorite teachers?
Mr. Ferrara, orchestra. Other than that? Hell, it was peak baby boom, there were 45 kids per classroom in the advanced track (let alone everyplace else) and we had no time to develop any particular sense of who our teachers were or they who their students were. Mr. Pahel probably remembered me afterwards as one of the two females he had in his physics class all year long, but I doubt it's a fond memory; I remember him mainly because he wanted to get rid of me and Robin D. so badly that he wrote us GLOWING college recommendations, to make sure he'd never see us again.
12. Where did you sit during lunch?
One of the music practice rooms off the orchestra room, or the library.
13. What was your school's full name?
Division Avenue Junior and Senior High School.
14. School mascot?
If we had one, I don't know about it.
15. Homecoming court?
If we had one, I don't know about it.
16. If you could go back and do it again, would you?
You could not possibly pay me enough, or imagine any set of conditions, under which I would be willing to go back to even 30 seconds of it.
17. What do you remember most about graduation?
Dropped out.
18. Where did you go senior skip day?
Never was a senior.
19. Have you gained some weight since then?
Um, yeah.
20. Who was your Senior prom date?
See 17, 18, ...
21. Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion?
Since that would require a spectacular feat of time travel, it would be unlikely, even if I wanted to, which I never have.
22. Who was your home room teacher?
I don't remember who my home room teachers were during ANY grade.
23. Who will repost?
Much of my flist has already posted.
24. Did you play any sports?
Perish the thought.
25. Do you still talk to people from school?
Yeah, I regularly talk to Rick (the person from question 1) and see him about once a year - he and his daughter stayed at our house when they had to visit Washington DC last year, for example - and there's about three other people I exchange annual greetings with. But the only person I'm really in touch with regularly is Sally from elementary school - we visit each other several times a year.
26. What year did you graduate?
I dropped out in '71 - right after final exams for 11th grade; I had skipped most classes for the year since January anyway, other than orchestra, and just showed up again in the spring to take exams. I went off to university anyway in Sept. of 71 (another story for another meme)
