What five things would your sixteen year old self find most surprising about your life since then?
Five things that my sixteen year old self would find unsurprising about my current life:
- Living in Baltimore. Baltimore???
- For that matter, having lived in Texas for 24 years. I don't think my 16 year old self had ever even faintly thought about Texas.
- CPA license. Accountant was nowhere on my list when I was 16.
- Well, the CHF. I had certainly never heard of heart failure then, and no one in my family that I knew of had any chronic illnesses that I knew about.
- How much I dislike talking on the phone. Seems like easily the last quarter of a century, I've been dilatory on checking the answering machine, returning calls, or picking up the phone to call someone I haven't talked to in a while.
Five things that my sixteen year old self would find unsurprising about my current life:
- Motorcycle. I always wanted a motorcycle. I planned to jump on one as soon as I could get a license without my parents' permission, back when I was 10 or 12.
- Pet rabbits. No surprises at all there.
- No kids. I never wanted kids.
- Autumn is still my favorite season, and summer is still my least favorite.
- I'm playing musical instruments in community groups. Even when I was firmly telling my dad that no way would I consider a career as a music teacher, I nonetheless knew that making music would always be a part of my life.
