Then, some pictures of my first two tries at polka dot stingray xmas ornaments in needlepoint:

This is both ornaments I tried. Why I did two: real polka-dot rays have very regular rings of spots, but when I did one that way, it looked a little *too* pretty, so then I did one with slightly irregular spots. (There will be more, with other kinds of spots.)

Here's a close-up of one. The black yarn actually has a slight metallic thread running through it, so it shimmers slightly, although not as much as the white yarn. The eyes are blue wooden beads, and the tail is just a braid of three strands of the black yarn.

And a quick look at the other one. The details of construction are the same; only the spot arrangement is different. Once I glue on backing of some sort, there won't be those little bare-appearing holes between stitches.
