OK, I've narrowed down the search for "This carol is way too long and all but incomprehensible" to two finalist. Please vote for the one you think is the more annoying:

[Poll #888206]

Oh, and add comments, please, about WHY you chose one or the other.

How about "I'm dreaming of a non-Euclidian Christmas"

I know the first one (mainly through Carl Barks/Donald Duck connection) but the only thing I cvould say about the second isthat could be polish... Therefore it's hard to decide...

12 Days are much more annoying to be sure - even when sung by the Muppets. I've a bit of a fondness for Good King Wenceslaus (along with it's other obscure quasi-Germanic cousin, The Wassil Song), though only in part because Hugh Grant sings it in Love Actully.

"Good King Wenceslas" is a nice tale of charity with a bona fide 13th-century tune (it began life as the spring carol "Tempus adest floridum") and which affords the singer to use the word "dinted," which is always a Good Thing. "The Twelve Days" is a boring and repetitive number which once inspired one of the priests at my parents' church to base his Christmas Day homily on the urban legend that it was a coded song for English Catholic recusants, which is not at all true and is actually rather stupid. So no contest here.

Although the real MOST annoying Christmas song, assuming you are not restricting the choices to the more traditional offerings, is "Jingle Bell Rock." Which may, in fact, be the most annoying song in existence, period.

But it's such a bright time!

(And my vote for most annoying goes to the David Bowie/Bing Crosby mashup of "The Little Drummer Boy" and "Some Thing David Bowie Thought He'd Better Sing Instead Because He Is Too Important And Avant-Garde To Sing Anything Normal")

"Good King Wenceslas" is my favourite Christmas carol. Christmas is the only time of the year when people actually listen to and sing anything approaching early music: this one is right up there with my other favourite, "To Drive the Cold Winter Away." :)

I chose "Good King Wenceslaus" because:

(a) I don't know it well
(b) I didn't grow up singing it
(c) I like singing "The 12 Days of Christmas"

So there. Nyah.

I don't get easily annoyed by Christmas Carols because I don't have a radio running incessantly.

12 days does become tiring.
