And a musical update
Dec. 11th, 2006 01:23 amSunday afternoon,
squirrel_magnet was playing a concert with the Bel Air Community Band, and I was playing with the Montgomery Village Community Band. As has happened a couple times before, this meant we needed to rent a car, since neither of us could use a bike to transport these particular instruments. Renting a car for a day at $32 or so, twice a year, is a LOT cheaper than owning a second car. Anyway, both concerts went well. My brother G made it to my concert, with his stepson, who also enjoyed it, especially the "Celtic Carol" piece with all the percussion. (It's "What Child is This" [Greensleeves] done up as if it were an Irish dance band, with a bodhran and lots of utility percussion toys.) My piece was a hit too, as was Gordon's bass trombone solo. The things we do to try and come up with holiday music that people haven't already heard to death!
I am trying to remember what I did the rest of this past week. The library? Yeah, I think there was library in there. And delivered several crocheted sets of hats and scarves that I made to order, and got paid for them, and turned around and spent that money on yarn and beads (with the bonus that spending $50 or more at JoAnn's this past weekend got a person a $10 gift certificate good on one's next purchase!) Now I need to try and finish a few things - stuffed toys for the under-1-year-old set, Anita's poncho, a couple of ornaments to be given as gifts...
Of course, we've also spent a chunk of the week picking ornaments up off the floor and putting them back on the tree. The theme for the tree this year is cats (since the auxiliary box of cat ornaments is the first box I found), so I guess it's appropriate that Dexter and Pickle are doing such an excellent job of moving them around.
Now I need to finish writing out cards for the Petbunny rabbit-themed holiday card exchange. Wheee!
