Finished Delete All Suspects by Donna Andrews, 4th in a series of what you might call "techie cozy" style - our detective is an AI living in a computer in a university in the Washington DC area, whose friends include various librarians - whom she is gradually turning into PIs - and the one other sentient AI in the library, a chess expert. (There are other AIs there, but as far as Turing knows, she and KingFischer are the only sentient ones.) In this volume, Turing decides she wants a pet cat. To my taste, the existence of a shadowy super-villain of incredible intelligence is a weakness - I prefer more realistic villains - but it's not a flaw that stops me from reading the series.

And Calvin Trillin's latest collection of his verses from The Nation - if you like Trillin, and/or agree with The Nation's politics, and/or want to try humorous verse a la Ogden Nash but with a political twist, this would be your cup of tea as well as mine.

I understand that Virginity or Death! is really good.
