what have I read lately?
Nov. 17th, 2005 01:33 amI'm losing track here. Um, a book of Pooch Cafe comic strips, ditto of Boondocks strips, ditto of "K Chronicles" (Keith Knight) and now I'm working through one of "Tom the Dancing Bug" strips. Re-read a couple of JD Robb's "In Death" books. Terry Pratchett's "Witches Abroad" and "Thief of Time." Caroline Roe's "A Poultice for a Healer," the latest in her Isaac of Girona series. I know I've read more than that, but stuff escapes from my head pretty rapidly. I've added a couple reviews to my collection on Amazon, if anyone wants to help me stay in the top 1000. And a bunch of magazines. I keep submitting captions to the New Yorker cartoon contest, but of course nothing of mine has come anywhere close.
Damn, my mind's a sieve lately. Well, I have a pacemaker checkup tomorrow, and a regular cardiologist appointment. And I have been doing a lot of music and hats; those I remember. Rehearsal Monday night, went down to Fort Myer on Tuesday for an Army band concert, rehearsal tonight; if it's not raining tomorrow evening, we're going back down to Fort Myer for a different set of the Army band in concert. The concerts are free, so the couple of gallons of gas are an OK price to pay. I wish we didn't keep finding new and creative ways of getting lost, though - both going in and getting out of Fort Myer. Last time before this, getting out, we wound up in Arlington National Cemetary and going around the Pentagon; this time we had to go all the way through Reagan Airport (I hate the sound of that as an airport name) just to make a U-turn and get in the direction we meant to be going on the road we were on. Who knows what we'll manage next time? If we ever went there in daylight, it would probably help.
