symphony, cat, talky waiter

bunrabSo last night we went to the opening concert of the Baltimore Symphony. Meyerhoff is a beautiful concert hall, open and well lighted and great lines of sight even from the cheap seats. We enjoyed the concert, though the piano soloist for Rhapsody in Blue seemed to have gone to the Liberace School of Music - rather than a tuxedo, he wore a black shirt and a black velvet smoking jacket with wide grey satin cuffs, and he made a point of throwing his arms around dramatically a bunch. One person's "rousing" is another person's "frenzied."
Pickle was acting crazy earlier today - zooming around the apartment so fast, he managed to dislodge the bathmats by skidding and changing direction on them. He would run over to the washer and yowl, then jump straight up and turn and run at speed to the front door, then a few seconds later come zooming into the bathroom again, at a pace that sent laundry flying. He was so odd - it was the sort of running back and forth and making noise that makes one want to ask "What is it, Lassie? Has Timmy fallen down the well??"
We ate supper at home this evening - pasta fagiole - then decided we needed to get out of the apartment for a bit, so we went "across the street" (actually up a block, then on Lark Brown across 108) to Restaurant Park and got dessert and iced tea at Olive Garden. Lots o' chocolate. And a waiter who wants to be a writer and likes to chat and since it was closing time as we finished up, he didn't have other tables remaining, so he pulled up a chair and told us things to look for in Baltimore, until finally his manager glared at him strongly enough to get him back to closing up. Nice kid. Don't know how long he can get away with that sort of thing, though - probably there are a lot of little closing chores he wasn't doing. OTOH, if it makes us happy customers who come back, then... Chocolate. We had lots of chocolate.
Not much else new here. Mailed off some parcels, cleaned cages, made some hats. I've got more than 50 hats in inventory now, so I think by the week after Halloween I should have more than enough!
