Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have less than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.
cavies - well, I've had guinea pigs all my life. Sometimes many guinea pigs. What can I say? They're cute, they're not as stupid as hamsters or gerbils, they make fascinating noises, they're cute.
concert band - I play tenor sax. I like Holst, and Vaughn Williams, and even Sousa music. I love, especially, the feeling when everything goes right, and 80 or 90 people play a piece of music perfectly together and it sounds like the air itself is playing along and enjoying it. Harmony rocks! Countermelodies rule! Sitting in front of the trombones leaves something to be desired, but... and meeting one's spousal unit in a community band also rocks!
donald norman - if you haven't read The Design of Everyday Things , go do so. I read it when it first came out as The Psychology of Everyday Things. And was impressed. And have used Norman's eye to examine things that are pretty but unusable ever since.
Honda motorcycles - um, has everybody noticed I ride one? See icon.
Khatchaturian (or alternate spelling of your choosing) - his second symphony is one of the loudest pieces of music I've ever heard. And it includes the Dies Irae theme, which I sort of collect.
Mensa - well, as I tell non-members, I stay in Mensa because I feel so normal compared to most of those people!
NPR - duh. I'm a flaming liberal. And I like classical music. Next question?
quilting - I quilt. Another of my hobbies. I rarely finish anything, but I have fun making tops.
small motorcycles - see above. See icon.
Tom Lehrer - if I need to explain what there is to like about Tom Lehrer, you won't get it. And if you do get it, you already know. Let's go poison some pigeons in the park together!
