According to assorted mythology sites, Pliny described gorgons as "a race of savage, swift, and hair-covered women".

It is. I ran into Half-Off Ragnarok by accident, and so now I'm going back and finding the rest - currently reading Discount Armageddon. Also just ran across an unrelated short story of McGuire's in an anthology, and I like that, too. I suppose I'll have to hunt down some other stuff.

I like this series a little better than the other one, which is slightly more conventional urban fantasy with fairies. (October Daye series, which I actually just finished reading the most recent book of yesterday).

Also check out Mira Grant, which is Seanan's pseudonym for horror genre. (I really don't care for horror genre, and especially zombies, but I particularly recommend the Newsflesh trilogy. Really neat worldbuilding there.)
