Drop Dead, Gorgeous by MaryJanice Davidson - can you tell that the Catonsville branch library recently had a major acquisition of more-or-less current Davidson? And that I happened to browse the New Books shelves right when it got put out? Anyway, this one isn't fantasy in the vampire-werewolf sense; instead it features characters who have superpowers due to infection with "nanobytes." And calling the little things "nanobytes" is only one of the stupid things about this book. I won't bother looking for others in this series.

That, I think, makes 100 books mentioned here this year, not counting re-reads and all the fungible historical romances. So, I hit my 100! It's a BookCrossing thing.

Went up to the library in Bel Air to pick up a book they were holding for me (that I had requested a couple months ago, that finally came in) and discovered that they have a hitherto-unnoticed GIFT SHOP in the library lobby. Selling, among other things, book-themed tree ornaments. So I now have five of those. Just what I needed, more ornaments.

I did get to use the post office in Bel Air to mail off a couple parcels - a LOT less crowded than the one in Catonsville. Got my sometimes annual parcel mailed off to Ontario. Since it continues to be an unseasonal 60 degrees F here, the hats unsold from the crafts fair will do a lot more good in Ottawa than they will here. Priority mail to Texas and to Ottawa cost less than my splurge in the library gift shop...

Now to go see if anyone has ever done a band transcription of Sibelius' Karelia suite.
