And today's reading.
Oct. 25th, 2006 04:48 amBrokeback Mountain: eh. It was OK; I suspect it's a better movie than a book, since the damn scenery seems to be so important.
Winter's Child by Margaret Maron - latest in her Deborah Knott series; I like the series and it's still going strong.
Have put in requests for the Thackeray books; had to use Interlibrary Loan for The Newcomes since local library doesn't even have it.
Considering how close to the next concert they are, the Baltimore Symphonic Band is nowhere NEAR ready. I hope they have a tradition of last minute drastic improvement. There is one (1) rehearsal left. This evening is the first rehearsal where we had 4 French horns, one for each part, and that's only because a ringer has been drafted in; the band has only 3 regular French horns, of which only 2 (not always the same 2) usually show up at rehearsals. Now if someone could do something to impress the concept of matching tone color on the trumpets, things might just work passably well. (
squirrel_magnet and I will be missing this BSB concert because we have a pre-existing commitment to a concert with the Montgomery Village Band. Part of why we joined BSB was because everyone assured us, oh, all their concerts are on Tuesday nights, so it won't conflict with anything else! Ha.)
Some of this week's chores have been accomplished: cleaned all the bunny litter boxes today. Must still do:
40 hours worth of accounting CPE before October 31, for my CPA license (luckily, since I read fast and take multiple choice tests well, I expect to accomplish that 40 credit hours in about 8 to 10 hours of my time.)
Make cover for MVCB chimes before November 5 concert.
Copy 2 pages of bari sax part to Colas Breugnon from score into Finale, because the bari sax part that BACB has is missing those two pages and no one else in the state seems to have a copy of that part in this particular transcription and edition.
Call my sister S and finalize arrangements for her daughter H to come visit next week, for Stitches East (knitting conference) - transportation is going to be a hassle. Mission accomplished;
squirrel_magnet will drive up to Bristol on Thursday afternoon to pick H up (round trip, a little over 4 hours); S will drive down here Friday afternoon to pick H up to take her home after her all-day Friday class ends. Fun for all.
OMG, Stitches is NEXT WEEK! I have "homework" I have to do for that, before my classes!! Gaaaah!
