bunrab: (alien reading)
Sometimes I find pages I've torn out of magazines, and can't remember why. For example, I have here a page from the 19 November 2005 issue of Science News and I have no idea which article I thought was so interesting. The articles on both sides of the page include:
Ancient Grazers: Find adds grass to dinosaur menu
Mental Meeting of the Sexes: Boys' spatial advantage fades in poor families
Way to Glow: Butterfly-wing structure matches high-tech lights' design
Tszzzzzt!: Electric fish may jam rivals' signals

Anybody have any idea why I would have saved that page?

Of course, I saved the page from the 1 April 2006 issue with the real, really, picture of the white fluffy crab. But everybody's seen pics of that crab by now, right? So I don't need to save that any longer. Its formal name is Kiwa hirsuta, but researchers informally refer to it as the Yeti crab.

Um. A page from an issue of Time, no date visible on either side. Did I want this page because, on one side, Sanjay Gupta refers to the website docboard.com, where you can check up on your doctor's board certifications, or because of the other side, an article entitles "Grandpa Goes to College"? (Hey, everybody, let's have the "does the question mark go inside the quote marks or not?" debate!)

Lessee. Another page from Time, date unknown, that mentions websites where you can go to minimize the damage that identity thieves can do:
http://www.optoutprescreen.com - get off the prescreened credit card offers lists!
http://www.financialprivacynow.org - Consumer Union's advocacy site
http://www.annualcreditreport.com - the legitimate site to request one free credit report a year from each credit bureau.

And an ad for Morningstar Farms Spinach Artichoke Veggie Bites. I wonder what local stores might carry those? They actually sound good.

The rest of the torn-out pages appear to be from, oh dear, knitting and crochet magazines, ads for yarn and yarn-related web sites. Oh dear, better not look at those.
