bunrab: (alien reading)
We had lunch at Spousal Unit's office, where SU has been entered in the "most retirement luncheons for a single person" top-10 list.

And then went to a guinea pig funeral: Dewey, the long-time library guinea pig at Little Walnut Creek branch, passed away. He was at least 6.5 years old, quite possibly older. He was an excellent listener, with perhaps more friends than any other guinea pig I know. He was buried beneath a tree in the parking lot; library patrons included snacks and poetry for him, and a decorative thingy for his grave, and even a flower. Dewey was a MOST excellent piggy.

We had supper with Gwen. Then came home and I napped. I just woke up for a bit, and felt restless, so here I am. Will go back to bed. Having been asleep since about 8:30 PM, maybe I will wake up again before noon!! That would contribute to a productive day.

The animated alien icon herewith attached is the very first animated gif I ever made, ages ago. I still think it's pretty funny. Reduced here to LJ's 100-pixel size, it's difficult to see that the back of the book shows a picture of an alien reading a book with a picture on the back of an alien reading a book... I am easily amused.
bunrab: (bike)
Usually, I take my helmet in to Hill Country Weavers, and use it as my shopping basket, and when the helmet is full, I have to stop. However, we locked the helmets on the bike, and used a tote thingy provided by Suzanne. So perhaps I was, er, extravagant.

However, I now have yarn to crochet a nice striped afghan while driving to MD (no, NOT when I'm doing the driving.)

And I also got to demonstrate the umbrella swift and ball winder, fun little gadgets to use.

Along with giving [livejournal.com profile] fadethecat more of "the story of yarn" lecture, I also had the fun of lecturing her on the laws of physics. I am SO sure that a former English major enjoyed the heck out of that. But nonetheless, despite the discomforts of being the person on the back (and on the back of a small bike with no luggage rack or seat rest thingy, at that) in a used full-face helmet that didn't fit perfectly, Fade enjoyed the short trip. If it were cooler weather so that both of us could have been wearing boots and gloves, I would have taken us for a longer spin. Heh heh. Consider the extremely lame pun about spinning and yarn to have been made.

Looks like we've got an apartment in Catonsville lined up, and a storage unit also. Landing place. I am sure once we are out of this house, it will be muy easy to sell it. So then we can buy a house there. Ah well, two moves. Wheeeeeeeee.
