"cedar fever"
Dec. 19th, 2004 07:21 pmIt's really juniper, called mountain cedar in these parts, and it's pollenating. The entire damn city of Austin is snuffling and sneezing and it's disgusting. My nose is dripping onto my recently knitted poncho. Iiiiiccckkk.
But next year! Ah, it's not quite "next year in Jerusalem" but then that's not what I want anyway, it's too damn hot there, too. It's "next year in Baltimore"!!!
Yes, we are going to achieve moving to a blue state! We really are! To a place where snow kills off the mold and pollen for a couple months a year!! A place where I can *wear* knitted stuff!! Have talked texas-born spousal unit into it. June or July, probably - with any kind of luck, won't be here for another Texas August!! Suburbs of Baltimore; we should be able to buy a house for cash within 20 miles of the city for what we'll clear on this house. (
momily, sorry if this sounds like gloating - I just can't help it! Knowing that we're going to achieve northeastern-ness has me dancing!! You're invited to come visit.)
There's lots of details to work on, but the outline is in place, the necessary paperwork with our respective retirement plans started, all that stuff. We have a community band already eagerly awaiting us up there. I need to find out about the Mensa chapter up there. Note to self: start more lists!!
Meanwhile, we have our Solstice/secular Christmas tree up; this year's ornament theme is "rabbits and rodents."
fadethecat and
landley helped decorate last night, and it is appropriately overdone. Pickle Underfoot has removed a few ornaments already, so they will be rehung a bit more out of his reach. Fade got her kitty ear hat. I showed my friend Cindy the pics, and now she wants one too - Fade, do you mind if I make a similar copy? It won't be identical; you will still have the only hat like it in the world!!
