Aug. 22nd, 2004 07:29 pmMensa Games Night was last night. We hold that at our house once a month, as an inspiration to clean the place up a bit - we have to clear off enough flat surfaces for game boards and/or playing cards. This forces us to throw away some of the accumulation of mail and magazines, put a bunch of books back on the bookshelves, return the stuffed animals to their proper shelves (Cthulhu especially tends to get on the dining table a lot) and even vacuum the floor. Only three people came, so after our usual couple of rounds of Apples to Apples, we switched to Trans-America, which is a lot of fun - very simple but requires a lot of planning nonetheless.
I just got finished with Guinea Pig Chat, which I run on America Online every Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. Eastern time (5 to 7 my time). I've been doing pet chats for over 10 years now. I still enjoy it - there's always new people to talk to, as well as old friends, and I get to find out that there are kids out there who can type, and who want to become veterinarians or doctors, and who are eager to learn - quite a good antidote to the usual gloom and doom in the news.
Now I have to find the textbook I need for tomorrow, finish updating the web site for that class, clean my helmet, and oh yeah, eat supper.
