Today was the "get your money's worth" day of the RG - large buffet lunch and catered dinner in a banquet room, which were part of the registration price, plus a bunch of worthwhile sessions - we got to pet very nice retired greyhounds, first, before lunch. After lunch was the "Craft 'n' Complain" session, which decided to turn itself into a field trip to a local yarn shop. This was, by the way, the day we dragged Rob and Fade along with us. So Fade discovered a new local yarn shop, and a group of people to knit with, and one of the knitters told her about a local SF group as well, so that was muchly productive. I suppose the guys did something while we were out. When we got back, there was talking and book buying - the games rooms included a few tables full of books for sale, an opportunity to pick up other people's used genre fiction cheap. Supper was fairly good, if a bit slow on the service, and we got to meet more people and enjoy talking with them, and then we arranged to skip the dance and instead meet Jim and Barbara in the games room for a few games. Rob turned out to be an absolute whiz at "Time's Up!" in part because he is a good singer; Fade and Marc someone managed pretty well for someone who grew up in Ecuador without American culture and someone who claims not to read books (that's what he says, honest!), and Barbara and I lost miserably for two well-read, articulate people. We had all started singing and humming at dinner, partly scaring the waitpeople I think. Fade and someone whose name I didn't catch sang a whole bunch of songs from educational TV - Schoolhouse Rock? and we did more singing after dinner; it is dangerous to put a bunch of people who all know both "The Messiah" and the complete works of PDQ Bach at a table together, not to mention the renditions of assorted Barry Manilow; anyway, the singing continued during the games, as did a certain amount of tuba trivia. We may be arranging for a Mensa tuba quartet for future RGs: Jim and Steve, and find some more people, and/or maybe put a cup mouthpiece on my bari sax and claim it's a serpent.

Now we're all exhausted.
