Despite it being a Sunday, the Verizon guy showed up at 8 this morning, all cheery and chatty. [livejournal.com profile] squirrel_magnet now knows more about this guy's life than he does about some of the people he worked with for years. Anyway, after the installation of a new interface box (perhaps somewhat water resistant, we hope!) we have DSL again. I was beginning to get antsy!

I've finished a few more afghans and started a couple more. All the critters are up in the new pet room, with the newly exposed hardwood floor. I haven't started ripping up the rest of the carpet yet, but I will, I will. The new chinchillas are settling in, though there's still a bit of agitation from both cages when Darwin and Lamarck wind up on the side of their cage that adjoins Chippy and Chili's cage. Farfalle and Domino have bonded and are sharing a cage now. Too cute.

Gotten a bunch o' reading done. Working my way through M.C. Beaton's Hamish Macbeth series, which is lightweight and a bit silly, but amusing enough. Almost caught up on magazines, too!

In other words, not too much exciting has happened while I've been off-line. The upcoming month promises to be much busier: tomorrow we need to make 4 gallons or so of iced tea, for Tuesday. Tuesday's schedule: be at Montgomery Village by about 9 a.m., drop off iced tea at the community center, parade at 10 a.m., concert around 11:30 to 12:15, then the band goes back to the community center for a party which is both to celebrate a successful season and to say goodbye to our oboe player, who is returning to Italy. (MVCB could use another oboe player, and also needs bassoons - anyone? We have one oboe/EH player left after Caterina leaves, and we haven't had bassoons in years, apparently.) Then after that party, we head to Bel-Air; we need to be there by 5 for the parade that starts at 6 p.m., and then concert at 8:30 p.m. Then, let's see, since Wednesday evening rehearsals will be over for a month, until we start up again in August, I can go to Wednesday night knitting circle. And I need to get those christmas carols arranged. And on the 8th we're going to a do-gooder party down in Vienna, VA. And my brother JJ is coming to the east coast to visit from the 9th to the 15th. And I am going up to Phila. to stay at my sister's from the evening of the 12th through the 16th, so that I can attend a knitting convention. And I have a stress test on the 20th. And we're going to a Pigs event on the 22nd, over in West Virginia. And our friend Cindy is coming to visit the 24th through the 30th. And somewhere in there, we'd also like to: visit Rob and Fade again, get to the Smithsonian, rip up the rest of the carpet, put up shelves for the knick-knacks...
